Period/Date:  At least 19th century possibly

Description:  This very classic nipple-like shield is probably the oldest example I've encountered.  It has seen long use and many duals and skirmishes, yet retains all four of its original embossed floret brass medallions.  Note the solid construction on this buckler how the hand forged brass rivets extend into the handle and secure it.  Varied dry patina with minor and normal cracking, blistering and oxidation.
